ARUBA HYPNOSIS

Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT IS HYPNOSIS?
Hypnosis is a naturally occurring heightened focused state of awareness. Simply stated, hypnosis is the narrowing of concentration intensifying your focus of attention on one particular thing at a time allowing you to become more open to suggestions.
HOW DOES HYPNOSIS WORK?
Our mind works on two levels ? The conscious and the subconscious. Our conscious mind is the rational and analytical part of our mind. We make decisions, think, and act with our conscious mind. Our conscious mind is also the part that contains our short-term memory and our will power. Our conscious mind is everything we are consciously aware of. Our sub-conscious mind houses our permanent memory, our emotions and our habits. The primary directive of the sub-conscious mind is self-preservation. The subconscious mind controls our habits and is normally “lazy” in that it does not like to change. In a state known as hypnosis, we can communicate directly with the subconscious mind.
WILL I REMEMBER THE DETAILS OF MY SESSION?
Yes, people have very good and vivid memories of what happened while in hypnosis. Hypnosis is a state of deep relaxation in which you become hyper aware and focused of what is happening around you.
CAN I REALLY BE HYPNOTIZED?
All hypnosis is self-hypnosis in that the hypnotherapist acts as a guide to lead you into a relaxed, receptive state. But you are always in control. If you wish to be hypnotized there is no power in the world that can stop you. If you do not wish to be hypnotized there is no power that can make you. In short, “if you think you can or think you can’t, you are right.”
CAN ANYONE BE HYPNOTIZED?
Yes, as a matter of fact the more intelligent and creative you are, the better you can be hypnotized. Generally speaking, every normal person is “hypnotizable.” That is, people with an IQ of at least 70 and has no mental disorders or that have not consumed alcohol or drugs. Therefore, virtually anyone can achieve successful results using hypnosis. Hypnosis is a natural state of mind.
WHAT DOES HYPNOSIS FEEL LIKE?
Hypnosis actually doesn’t feel like anything. Most people can’t tell the difference between the hypnotized and the waking states. Some people feel relaxed and lethargic, others feel lightness. One thing that people do notice is an inexplicable change in their daily behaviors.
HOW DO YOU GO INTO HYPNOSIS?

Two ways:

  1. Automatically and naturally: Human beings are changing all the time in many ways and on many levels be it mood, relative health and even level of consciousness. So, you just naturally and automatically enter the hypnotic state from time to time. You enter some form of hypnosis several times every day.
  2. A hypnotist guides you there: Hypnotists have a number of ways to do hypnotic inductions to help you achieve the correct levels with ease.
CAN I GET STUCK IN HYPNOSIS?

No, and there is no recorded case of this ever happening. Hypnosis is a profound relaxation and it is impossible to get stuck in relaxation. You are aware and in control at every moment and can terminate the session at any time. Hypnosis is a safe, relaxing and enjoyable experience

WILL I BE UNDER THE CONTROL OF THE HYPNOTIST?
No. That is a myth popularized by some early Hollywood movies, but simply isn’t true.
CAN THE HYPNOTIST MAKE ME DO SOMETHING I DON’T WANT TO?
No. Hypnosis cannot make anyone do anything that goes against their values and beliefs. You are always in control. If a hypnotist ever gave you a suggestion that you were morally or ethically opposed to you would come out of hypnosis immediately. And if a hypnotist gives you a suggestion that just isn’t one you want, it just won’t have any effect on you. A person can’t be forced to do anything while in hypnosis
IS HYPNOSIS SAFE?
Yes, absolutely! Used correctly, by a trained hypnotherapist, hypnosis is extremely safe. Hypnosis is a completely natural method of absorbing information.
WILL I FALL ASLEEP?
No, during hypnosis you do not fall asleep. Hypnosis feels a bit like daydreaming. Even though we do use the word “sleep”, it is actually a very deep state of relaxation and deep concentration.
HOW DO YOU CHARGE AND HOW LONG DOES A SESSION TAKE?
We normally charge per session which takes about 50 minutes or so. It can happen that during one of your appointments (particularly the first one) we do more than one session.
HOW FAST WILL HYPNOSIS WORK?

Hypnosis usually produces dramatic results in as little as one session. Sometimes it may take a few days or a couple of weeks for the maximum impact.

WHY DON’T YOU OFFER A “MONEY-BACK” GUARANTEE?
Hypnosis is NOT MAGIC – it can HELP YOU achieve many things in life, but none of these things can be guaranteed, because it depends on how much effort YOU put in. YOU need to accept some responsibility for YOUR actions and YOU need to put some effort in it if you want to change – nobody can do it for you. We will help you a great deal, but cannot do it for you.
IS IT TRUE THAT HYPNOSIS IS A SHORTCUT TO A BETTER LIFE?
Definitely! During our life span we pick up many customs, habits, fears and inexpedient patterns, either influenced by others or created by ourselves. Over time, as we repeat these patterns over and over, they become ingrained in our subconscious mind. The more the actions are repeated the stronger and more permanent they influence our behavior. While most of these patterns are very important as they are part of the protective mechanism that allows us to survive in this world, some of them limit us and impede our progress. Hypnosis permits communication with the subconscious mind and allows the changing of these patterns. With hypnosis we teach the subconscious mind all the advantages of letting go of old limiting patterns and beliefs without the critical conscious part of the mind interfering and opposing these changes.
